我的作品採用傳統媒體的柔軟一面,去創造屬於我的思考空間在那裡,不斷地挑戰自己,嘗試在不同角度理解、回應世界萬事萬物。處於動盪、撕裂的社會環境,我的靈感來自平日生活、感情中發現到的混亂、不平衡。我會嘗試在其中加入文學或符號元素,兩者融合時會產生一種矛盾感,激發我去創造、沉澱,將所信、所知的完善。創造對我而言是迷失自我,也是尋找自我的過程;或許能在其中找到世界萬物的一絲秩序感,只可惜那只是一瞬即逝,並非定律,亦無所謂定律。
In my pieces I use the stable ductility of traditional media to create a space where I am able to constantly challenge the way I perceive and react to the world around me. Often my ideas are drawn from the disorder I observe in everyday life, from personal experiences and raw emotions driven by rapidly widening social and moral divides. I try to incorporate literature and semiotics to form a contradicting feeling of timeless suspension, a breathing space that tries to induce contemplation and urge for action as I continue to formulate my own retorts, antidotes and refine existing beliefs. To me this is a process of losing and creating myself, of finally finding a sense of order, however temporary.

其實我對藝術沒有很深的認識,也不知道它是什麼,只知道它是一件令我感到快樂及舒適的東西。我認為藝術創作是個人化的事情,是一種讓人表達心靈的媒介,只要將自己隨心的所思所想表現在作品中,就是非常簡單的故事。
Art, like the fog, is everywhere—swirling around us, influencing what we do and what we see. I always believe that art touched our life, but will also change the way we live. It makes our life more interesting and meaningful. That’s why I am interested in art and have set a career goal to engage in art.

「讀藝術一定要懂得這個社會。」我曾是一個封閉自我,懶得理會這個社會的所謂「藝術青年」。我大多的作品都是圍繞著自己,很少談論這個社會。經過雨傘運動,我開始關注時事,亦開始對這社會有着很多的疑問。我漸漸注意到這社會腐敗「黑暗」的一面,因此我想把我對這個社會的觀察及疑問,通過藝術來表達及分享出來。
Umbrella movement changed me. I started to notice negative things in our society and it may affect me and the next generation. I want to use my own methods to present how I feel about the place where we are living. As a Visual Arts student, I notice that lots of localartist are using their own methods to show their point of view of this city. I learnt a lot not just technical things but also their mind-set. Also, I really want to meet different artists from different countries and learn about them and what they think about certain things and society problem nowadays.

我對政治題材十分敏感,荒謬事情如普教中、政改等是我靈感來源,在這個指鹿為馬的社會,苦笑是一種麻醉藥。以無奈感與黑色幽默表達是我現時創作的主要手法,亦是我對現今香港、世界的價值觀。
I am quite sensitive towards political issues. Ridiculous issues such as using Putonghua as teaching language of Chinese language, and the political reform are where my inspirations come from. In this society with all the inversion of the truth, a bitter laugh may be an anesthetic to deal with it. In my current works I make use of black humor and a sense of helplessness. It is also my values towards Hong Kong and the world nowadays.

身於一個歷盡滄桑的城市,我希望藉著自身經驗和觀察,從多角度探討多元文化的概念。透過在影片《香港湯》把文化大熔爐影像化,以及在花牌《多語言寶誕》呈現香港的語碼轉換現象, 作品皆能讓人體會到香港的多元文化。
What does it mean to live in a hybrid city? —This is a question that I attempt to answer in my body of works. Inspired by my personal experience and social issues in Hong Kong, as reflected by the diverse use of media, I intend to explore the process and products of hybrid culture from multiple perspectives. Through the use of humor, I aim to fulfill my intention of leading viewers into considering pros and cons of hybridity. Whilst the video piece “The Hong Kong Soup” visualizes Hong Kong as a cultural melting pot, “A Multilingual Celebration”, a Fa-Pai inspired installation and photography series looks at linguistic behavior of “code-switching” amongst Hong Kong society.

暴力、武器、戰爭都是在社會裡裏無可避免的。無論是在殘破的鄉村裏,躲在防炸彈的安全地區裏,在受到射擊殘殺的學校裏,或者是被召去打仗的人-身處社會中兒童都必須面對殘酷的戰爭。這個概念諷刺社會的原則,而我就從這個理念找到靈感,創造出讓人深思的作品。
As conflict around the world grows, more and more children are exposed to the brutalities of war. Whether they are living amongst the ruins of their home, hiding out in a bomb shelters, suffering as victims of school massacres, or whether they are recruited to fight for their country; children face different extremities of violence in the society. This ironic concept inspired me to explore the themes of war, creating pieces that juxtapose the innocence of childhood and the horrors of war.

我不明白為甚麼戀愛會有「限制」。是因為社會上的目光?宗教的理念?那麼如果人個個都是蒙着面,大家都不知道對方的性別時,大家是否就可以「單純地」戀愛呢?!
I do not understand why love is so “limited”. Because of the values of the society? Or religious beliefs? So if all our faces are covered, when we do not know the gender of each other, can we “simply” love ?!

我的家庭 My Family
家庭是無可取替的,真誠的,生命中最重要的肢體…...系列中的第一件作品是關於我婆婆與及她一直為我們準備餸菜的奉獻。第二件是一個對兩樣毫不關聯的東西能否結合成為一體的實驗,以表達我對維繫父母關係的信心。
Family is the most crucial unit in everyone’s life. It is irreplaceable, sincere…The first artwork of the collection is about my grandma’s devotion, sparing no effort to make great dishes for us. The second one is an experiment of whether two unrelated objects can become one flesh, to express my faith on repairing my parent’s relationship.

我創作的靈感主要源自超現實主義藝術家Frida Kahlo的作品。其中一個原因是她以她的畫作毫無保留地把她真實的生活故事如實的告訴觀眾,持開放心態面對所有的意見與批評。 我的畫作大多數圍繞女權主義。我起初從創作一幅抽象畫中,試驗了一些較代表女性的物料,自此就開始研究及以創作表達女權主義這理念。
My artworks mainly revolve around feminism. I developed this idea when working on my first abstract artwork. I experimented with some feminine materials (yarn and thread) and started investigating more on this topic. My art making is chiefly inspired by Frida Kahlo, a surrealist artist whom I admire. One reason is because she shamelessly presents her whole life story in herart works, as if welcoming judgments and criticisms. Her strong belief regarding painx and passion has successfully conveyed to us.

我希望我的作品可以發放一些訊息給觀眾,讓他們可以與作品有更深的聯繫。通過藝術作品,我嘗試帶出一些環保,保育的訊息,也希望人們對不同的事物能夠建立一個更好的價值觀。作品裡不單著重與觀眾的溝通,也融合了傳統手工藝和比較現代化的材料,讓作品更加豐富。
In my opinion, the connection with audiences is fundamental in a piece of artwork. Therefore I am trying to create artworks that communicate. Recently, I have been creating projects related to the environment and the society. I hope to push a change through my creativity, the use of both traditional and contemporary art making techniques, to address issues such as to conserve the environment, to revalue clothing, to have a better value on “perfection”.

靈魂麻木的人,不能感到自我;思想麻木的人,不能改變自我。人們麻木的思想令世界不能進步;自身麻木的心靈使自己不能突破自我。但是人類倒是懂得找能夠刺激自己的事物,去嘗試令麻木減慢。而炭筆能將各種看似單調的事物中的黑、白和灰完美地呈現出來,直達人的內心,令人真正活起來,重新去感受每一件事物。
People who are numb in soul, can’t feel themselves; people who are numb in mind, can’t improve themselves. A society with people who are numb in mind, will finally be on the wane; people who are numb in soul, will be never breakthrough themselves. But we always find something to stimulate our feeling, and try to fight with the numbness. In each of the work I tried to use monochrome to express my own feeling, unlike the work with use of a lot of color, I think the simplest expression can bring something to basic, where people can use a clear mind to see things again.

我的作品大部分都記錄了作為藝術家的經歷和感受,也記錄了我的恐懼和掙扎。我嘗試了不同種類的技巧及媒介,例如我試過用自己身體作為媒介。在這兩年裡,我研究了許多不同的藝術,我學會了欣賞大自然,也學會了獨立、有自信地完成作品。
Numerous artworks, artists and art movements I studied has inspired me to develop better concepts. Inspired by Andy Gothsworthy and his artworks, I understand more about the importance to make use of the natural resources around us. My artworks often show how I feel about being an artist and how I tackle my fears and struggles. I have experimented with various media and techniques, like body painting and photography. It is avant-garde to use my face and body in the work. Throughout two years of practices, I have learnt to appreciate the mother nature. I have improved my ability to create works independently, confidently and have a great variety of developments.

TIFFOODY= Tiffany + Food + Foody
我的藝術品主題是「TIFFOODY」,記錄了我與食物的有趣關係和故事。這三件作品講述了零食是我的力量來源、身體一部分,也是朋友。其實食物的角色從不簡單,只是一般人都輕視了。經研究後,我發現食物和人之間多有愛的關係,因此我選用布和針線,比喻食物有如母親為孩子默默付出的愛,孕育我的成長。我使用混合媒介令三件作品更有層次和驚喜。
TIFFOODY is a term and art series, which is about food and a foodie called Tiffany. Yes! I created this term. I love art and eating snack very much.Over the past 3 years, I have been developing a relationship between food and myself. I found that food is not simply “food” for humans. These interesting relationships were neglected by most of the people. For myself, food is my power station, growing witness, best friend and part of my body. I have a close relationship with food. These of my story and thoughts that stand out from the rest. Art is glamorous invention. Because I believe that art is a place where I found myself. It is an international language to communicate with others. Everyone has different style and method to show their thoughts to the audience. There is no right or wrong. That’s what makes art amazing and diversify. It is the reason why art is seductive to me. To be artists, we should pursue and explore art continuously. To be audiences, we should immerse and enjoy. I enjoy being with art and never get tired of it . Do you?

可以影響人超過30萬年的,是情緒,由家庭、行為,到宗教、信仰。一切都會被情緒影響,而我創造的作品都是我個人情感和生活中情緒的混合。我的作品要弄清楚一切之間的情感,比如主觀與客觀之間的情感差異。
Emotion is the most powerful tool. Emotion is affecting human for more than 300,000 years. From family and behavior, to religion and belief, everything are affected by emotion, so do my artwork. My artwork is about my personal emotion and things happening in my life. I believe that if I have a strong emotion towards something then I can create an artwork base on that thing.

不論主題，在每次創作時我都會以一個特定的概念為基礎。這個概念可以非常簡單或稍微複雜，但目的都是希望能夠將我的個人想法完完全全注入作品的每一部分。我視藝術為一個學習關於自己，我的性格，思想和興趣的頻道，而我的作品讓我能在以後再次思考及探索自己作為一名創作者曾有過的思想模式。
No matter what topic or media, I always aim to deliver a concept through my art pieces. All of my artwork comes from personal thoughts. By infusing the ideas that I have through these works, I’m able to create a final piece that embodies a part of me. They allow me to revisit and explore my own way of thinking again and again. I use art as a way of learning about myself, my thoughts and my interests, and many of them involve the idea of perception, and perception my own or other’s towards different things. This is why my greatest pleasure comes from explaining to people my intentions and listening to them explain how they’ve perceived my work

身處繁華的社會同時身為一個城市人,其實可以感覺到其實城市的繁榮就好像一個爛蘋果一樣,有亮麗的外表,但當中卻存在了很多問題,例如:人們對物質的追求,令城市人漸漸失去了自己的思考,只懂得麻木追求,就連價值觀都漸漸被同化。所以我希望可以透過作品去帶出這些城市的氣象和現象,能喚醒人們,不要再人云亦云,麻木地去跟隨。
The topic of my artworks is city. I live in a city and I born in a city. I can see many social issue and meteorology. For example, Values- is money the most important thing in our life? I want to proof that it is wrong…
